Shady Grove Cemetery, founded in 1891 near Dutchtown, Missouri, in Cape Girardeau County, is a National Register of Historic Places site and speaks to the county's rich African-American history. Genealogical Society member Marybeth Niederkorn gives some history of the site and discusses a forthcoming book about Shady Grove that she's updating, due out June 1.
